Website updates, new features, tips, how to's, and more!
Hello!
We recently completed a major server upgrade! It might not seem like an "exciting" update or new features but this work ensures that your data will stay safe and your website will stay accessible while we continue to grow!
We don't post often, but do want to assure you that we are constantly maintaining and upgrading behind the scenes stuff.
During the upgrade we had an issue for about one day where newly uploaded photos would upload but would not display.
That issue has been fixed and your photos will display now!
If you've uploaded a photo in the last day or so, you may want to checkout "MENU" > "Website Photos" to ensure you don't have any duplicates!
That's all :)
Hey!
You can now use an authenticator app to protect your account with two factor authentication.
With this enabled, you will have to enter in your username and password as well as a one time password that will be generated with an app like Google Authenticator, Apple Safari, Twilio Authy, 1Password, or another authenticator app.
It's so much easier than it used to be and I HIGHLY recommend you use two factor authentication!
To enable two factor authentication... Login to your account -> Click MENU -> Under "Change Password" you'll now see "Two Factor Authentication". Click "Two Factor Authentication" to enable extra security on your account.
I highly recommend this!!!
Hey everyone. We are still here, still maintaining, and still making updates to the website! I think the last update we posted was before covid! We hope you are all staying safe and enjoying time with your loved ones like we are!
We've added a handy new feature. You can now see how many total guests you have. Each entry in your address list has a "Total Guests in Party" field. We take and add up all of those numbers. Boom! Look for this number at the top of your address list!
Hey! Not much to update on but we wanted to let you know that we're still here :)
Expect a new (but still familiar) and improved interface in the next few weeks!
Did you know you can connect your ineedyouraddress.com address list to pretty much anything else out there?
It's really simple and you don't need to be a developer to do this!
Create a free account (or login to your existing one) at Zapier.com (If you haven't heard of zapier... where have you been?!)
From there you can setup a "trigger" and an "action".
When this happens, do this.
People are actually automating their Wedding Invites and "Save the Dates" this way.
For example, when a New Entry is Added, then Send a Wedding Invite to the address.
Go HERE to connect your address list to Zapier.
What was once called "Sharing" is now called "Collaborate". This is to clear up some confusion!
Collaborate is a way to invite others to work on your address list with you. If you invite someone to collaborate on your address list, they'll be able to see all of the addresses, delete them, add new ones, and edit existing ones.
As of November 15, 2016, when you delete an address, it is actually just thrown in your trash can instead of permanently deleted.
From the trash, you can either restore it or permanently delete it.
To restore a deleted address...
Click on "Filters".
Scroll to the bottom of the "Filters" popup and click on "Trash".
Select the addresses you want to restore then click "Restore checked Addresses".
Done!
Alternatively, if you really want to delete the address, you can click "Permanently delete checked Addresses". But don't say we didn't warn you! That will remove them for good!
You can now change the label for the 'State' field on your website.
Go to MENU > Website Settings > Label for 'State' Field.
This change was inspired by one of our Canadian friends :)
On February 23rd at 12:38 pm MST, the servers that run iNeedYourAddress.com were involved in a power failure.
This power failure damaged some of the hardware and it took us a very long time to get everything back up and running smoothly again.
I’m pleased (and very relieved) to report that as of February 24th at 5:40 pm MST, iNeedYourAddress.com and all data has been fully restored and is running smoothly now.
I’m very sorry for any inconvenience or embarrassment this may have caused.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you, Travis INYA
To export and download your addresses...
Click "MENU"
Select "Download/Export Addresses"
Click the "Check All" button to select all of the addresses on the page. If you have more than 100 addresses you'll need to click the "Next" button to go to the next page and click "Check All" again. Do this for each page of addresses.
Click the "Download Selected Addresses" button
A CSV file will be downloaded to your "Downloads" folder. This file can be opened in any spreadsheet program such as Excel or Numbers. It can also be opened in any text editor.
Done!
You can now upload and use your own fonts for your labels and envelopes.
The file type must be TTF (TrueType Font) and it should have full character support.
You can upload a font by clicking "Upload Font..." which is next to the font choice menu OR go here!
Only you will have access to use the font that you upload.
A good place to find fonts is dafont.com. Make sure you download the TTF version of the font and that the font is free for personal use or that you pay to use it for personal use if the artist requires.
We now accept more file types (CSV, vCard, XSLX) and allow you to map your columns to our fields!
You can even merge columns into one field. For example, say you have "First Name" and "Last Name". Just drag and drop your columns onto the "name" field when you are importing and those columns will be merged together.
Our goal has always been to make INYA a joy to use and we hope you like these new improvements!
You can import addresses by tapping "MENU" then "Import Addresses".
We've decided to include Return Address Labels in the Basic Account so anyone can now quickly create labels for themselves. It gives you a chance to try out the label functionality.
Go to Make Return Address Labels, type in your name and address, specify how many labels you need, a font, color, and size, click "Download PDF". Done!
Enjoy!
We've been hard at work on the latest changes to the interface and hope you like them!
The main changes are around the navigation.
Before there were two different menus that could be confusing to use on the mobile interface. Now the same menu works across the desktop and mobile platform.
Included with this update is several bug fixes, performance updates, and we've now made the Return Address Labels option FREE! The Recipient Address Labels and Envelopes are still -$9.99-.
update The introduction period is over and the price for the Envelopes and Labels Option is $29.99.
Our cousin is getting married so my aunt asked us for a spreadsheet of my family's addresses.
I knew I could download the file as CSV and send it to her, but why not simplify that process?
You can now share a spreadsheet (CSV File) right to an email address.
Select a few addresses (or all of them) and tap "Download Selected" > "Send to email".
Type in the email address of the person you would like to share the addresses with (or your own email address).
Click "OK".
The addresses export to a spreadsheet that is then emailed to the email address you specified. Done!
Here is a pro tip for you. inya.co has existed for quite some time now. Mostly because I got tired of typing in i-n-e-e-d-y-o... You get the point.
inya.co and iNeedYourAddress.com go to the same place!
Try it out with your URL!
inya.co/whatever-your-url-is
That's inya.CO not inya.COM . I don't know who inya.com is but they do return a nice smiley face when you visit them :)
You can now change "Notes" to whatever you want your visitor to leave. You can also change the "Name" to something more specific as well.
Go to "Website Settings and Photos" and change "Label for 'Notes' Field" to whatever you want. By default it is "Notes".
You can also change "Label for 'Name' Field".
I started to write this post thinking that INYA a was now a year old. Nope, it's 2015! INYA is now two years old!
Our first sketches for INYA were done in December 2012 right after Jackie and I were engaged. We spent several days and nights working on the code and officially launched INYA in January of 2013.
Since then we have added several features based on the feedback we have received and we have many more features coming this month!
A few things we've been working...
2015 is looking bright!
Thank you to everyone who has submitted feedback and said nice things about us all around the internet!
We really appreciate you!
Travis INYA
Once your address list gets so large you may need to spread it across a few pages.
Address lists will now show 100 entries per page.
This does mean that for the time being, you can only export up to 100 entries at a time. We'll fix that in an update next week.
We also snuck in a few other performance tweaks and a handful of bug fixes.
Enjoy!
Send your feedback to feedback@ineedyouraddress.com!
We've added a way to quickly find addresses that have missing information.
If an entry is missing required information such as "Postal Code" when you import a file, then the entry's Postal Code will be set to "!! None !!".
You can easily find these files by clicking on the tools dropdown menu then click "Look for Missing Info"
We've been busy testing and tuning our Import Addresses feature!
We've taken exports from Gmail and other popular email and address book providers and fine tuned our software to easily pull those addresses into your INYA Address List.
If you have a file that didn't import, we encourage you to try again!
Changes to the menu and various speed improvements.
Q: iNeedYourAddress, how do you make money and how do I know you aren't just going to run off with my data?
A: A lot of people ask us how we make money. Especially because our user base trusts us to keep their data secure and not sell it. We make money when people pay for the Envelopes and Labels Options. It's $29.99 and keeps the servers running nice and cool. We also make money by displaying ads and allowing you to pay $3.99 to disable ads on your website.
We do not sell your data. Period. No one sees it.
We DO still have a little celebration every time we receive notification of a new paying user. :)
We have tried out several pricing models and have settled on what we have now after a LOT of testing. It's not easy. We give props to anyone out there who has created something and put it in front of people. It takes a lot to put your creation in front of people and it's scary. So... many props to you aspiring entrepreneurs.
We welcome any questions at help@ineedyouraddress.com which is forwarded to Jackie and myself.
Also, if there is something on the website that makes it not a joy to use, please let us know :) We'd love to address the issue.
-Travis
Users are able to share their address list with another person. When a person accepts a shared address list, that user could add addresses but not see/edit those addresses from the address list unique url.
Fixed that issue. :)
We have developed an API for anyone out there who wants to further expand on what INYA can do!
How about if someone adds an address to your website and it automatically is sent to a different contact manager of your choice?
Want to get a text message every time someone adds their address?
What about allowing people to text you their address and it is automatically added to your list?
Want a wordpress plugin?
The sky is the limit!
We are more excited for the ideas that you have so let us know what you'd like to do and request your API keys today by emailing help@ineedyouraddress.com!
Here are a few of the NEW backgrounds you can choose for your website! You can look at them through your website settings, or when you are making a new address list.
Check them out and let us know what you think!
You can now control the font size of the labels and envelopes. You'll find the "Bigger" and "Smaller" buttons in Print Envelopes or Print Labels.
We also snuck one other feature in. Sometimes you don't need the recipient's country to be on the label or envelope. (Like when you are in the same country as them) So we added a checkbox to "Include Recipient's Country Info".
We just added some new features per your feedback!
You can now display the "notes" field on your website. This means a visitor can leave some extra notes if they'd like. This is turned off by default and you can enable it by checking the box for "Display the 'notes' field on website' at Website Settings and Photos.
We have also added a "company name" field so that visitors can leave a company name if they'd like. This is disabled by default but you can enable it by checking the box for "Display the 'company name' field on website" at Website Settings and Photos.
As always, thank you for the feedback! We hope this website is a joy to use and makes your job easier!
Sorry if we've been a bit slow to respond to feedback, support, and general contact.
We've had our hands a little full with our new baby boy! He was born on Saturday morning (May 3, 2014)!
So, if you need urgent support please just put the word "urgent" in your email to us and we'll be in touch as soon as possible!
:)
You have always been able to download/export your addresses from iNeedYourAddress to use them in other systems. It's your data. We just want to help you achieve what it is you are trying to do!
Now when you click "Download Selected", you have two options.
Download as CSV to download your selected addresses as a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file. This is the most portable format and can be imported into most systems.
Download for SOC to download your selected addresses as a TXT (Tab Separated Values) file. This file will import directly into your SendOutCards Contact Manager!
We put some more work into the Import Addresses feature. Here are a few of the improvements
The goal here is to make the import as easy and seamless as possible. We want it to 'just work' for you!
If you are having any trouble with the import, please contact us and we'd be glad to help!
In your website settings, we have a "Need addresses by" field. You can pick this day, usually the day you would be sending out your invites. This way, if people come to your website after the date you enter in the "need addresses by" field, it will notify the user that it might be too late to enter their information, but they can still leave it.
In the event that someone does still enter their information in, we will send an email notifying you that you have received a new address. This way, if you have already sent them out, and someone adds their information, you will know you have a new address waiting for you!
Your data is now more secure as it is now encrypted between your device and our servers.
Look for the padlock in the address bar :)
We fixed an issue where you could get a server error when attempting to reset your password.
Speaking of passwords, now is a good time to change your password. Choose a strong one!
Don't just change it on iNeedYourAddress, change it on all of your social media sites and important accounts!
There are some new columns in the Address List Export. You will now get a column for "fullname", "firstname", "lastname", "birthmonthandday", "birthmonth", "birthday".
This is so SendOutCards users can more easily import their names and addresses into the SOC Contact Manager.
Keep the feedback coming!
Due to some great feedback the "Event Date" is no longer a required field as it might not apply to some users of iNeedYourAddress.
Thank you for catching that and keep sending in the feedback!
We fixed a few bugs this week.
Quick update. You can now see a live preview of what your labels or envelopes will look like as you change the font, color and size.
You can check out how to print labels or print envelopes.
We have made the awesome ability to be able to print on your labels right at home, and it is so simple! The ability to do this, was one of the main reasons we made this website. When we were first trying to figure out how other people collected addresses, well that was a nightmare. THEN we tried to figure out how people actually got the addresses onto the envelope..(without handwriting a million of them) and holy cow! Trying to figure that out was even worse.
Sooo, let me walk you through how to print the labels at the peace of your own home* (not that you need it, because it's pretty self-explanatory on the website already)
Sign Up for freeee and create a website (easy peasy)
Edit your website by adding beautiful pictures of yourself, adding a title..and so on..
Either import your CSV file (an excel file works, but it's easier with a CSV) OR share your new URL with your family and friends via Facebook or however.
When you are ready, click "Print Labels" on the lefthand side
Pay a measly $29.99 (sorry, we have to make a living somehow!)
Pick your label size
Pick your font and color
BOOM! Print right at home!
This website does not include a printer, must have one on hand.

We have recently added the ability to "tag" your addresses. Let us tell you why they are so awesome and handy to have.
We made "tags" because for us, we had different groups who needed to get different things with our wedding invites. We had our immediate family who we wanted to send our normal invite too, as well as the ceremony insert. So we made a tag for "ceremony" so that when the time came to print them off, we knew what addresses got the extra goodies and wouldn't have to go searching through them all. We also made a group for "luncheon", so those people would feel extra special that they got to eat with us. It would work for a rehearsal dinner as well!
Tags are such an easy way to organize your addresses and helps differentiate the addresses of family and friends. Soooo cool, we know.
If you are just using iNeedYourAddress for personal use, its useful for you guys too! You can easily tag all your "coworkers" together, as well as "family" and "friends". They all stay in the same address list, and you can view them all at once, or look at the addresses in the individual tags.
We added this feature so we could share our address list with our parents. That way they could comb through the names and add anyone that we missed from the old neighborhood.
This is how it's done...
We'll send them an invitation to collaborate on the address list with you and let you know when they accept!
Note: This will give the user the ability to view, add, edit, tag, and organize your addresses but they will not have the ability to make changes to your website settings or photos.
Thanks to some great feedback we decided to add the option to "Display a 'birthday' field on website".
You can enable this and other fields such as email address or phone number at Website Settings and Photos.
They weren't showing before because of the heavy database hits. We did some database optimizing and worked out a way to show you your tags. :)
A few security updates and also fixed an issue where an anonymous user could hit a particular url and get a server error for not being logged in.
The default tag for imported addresses is now "uploaded YYYY-MM-DD". It can be changed to whatever you want though!
View your address list.
Select a few entries... (Family members perhaps)
Click "Tags"...
Click "Create New Tag" then type in a new tag name.
Click "OK". BOOM! Your entries have now been tagged!
Tag ideas... "Ceremony", "Groom Side", "Bride Side", "Friends", "Luncheon", "Family"...
Return to the "Tags" menu to filter your search results by tags.
It's all the same thing but now you can refer to WeNeedYourAddress.com as well as iNeedYourAddress.com.
Once a form has been submitted I put in some barriers around it so it cannot be submitted again to help with duplicate entries.
Giving more feedback to the user so it is more obvious when an action has been performed.
An email is now sent when an account is created and a separate email is sent when an address list is created.
Improved code in the signup process. The main thing users will notice is we don't ask for money right after they sign up any more. They are taken directly to their address list.
Applied some database and lower level security patches and updates.
P.S. Thank you for the internet love and spreading the word about our product out there :)
This was mainly an issue on signing up and creating new address lists.
Thanks for the feedback. Keep it coming!
It's been a bit since our last update but not because we weren't doing anything. We've made several improvements through out the interface! Be sure to let us know if you see anything that doesn't seem right!
... to help you better navigate and use the website! Please keep sending in your feedback!
We really want your data to be secure.
There are some new tabs at the top of the screen. This will be helpful for users who have multiple address lists or address lists shared with them.
We also added some options to the Envelopes and Labels so you can better filter which addresses you want to create envelopes or labels with.
My Mom wanted to be able to view my address list and make sure we didn't miss any of the old neighbors. I present to you Sharing!
You can share your address list with another person by going to "Website Settings and Photos" > Scroll to the bottom of the Website Settings > Click "Share Address List" > Enter in the other person's email address.
When you share an address list with someone, that person will not have permission to make changes to the website settings or photos. They can only add, view, and edit addresses.
Right now the other person needs to have an account with INYA but we are working on making this a little more easy to use!
We also did some house cleaning around the site and made some design tweaks.
Enjoy!
update The introduction period is over and the price for the envelopes and labels option is $29.99.
Worked out a few issues that were preventing some users from importing addresses into their address list.
Once logged in go to the top right, click on your username > Account Settings.
From there you can click New Address List.
The address lists are completely separate from each other.
There will be a few more changes coming here but wanted to start with this and do them incrementally. The main goal is to clean up the interface of the page.
Go to 'Envelopes and Labels' > 'Labels' > 'Return Address' or 'Recipient Addresses'.
We added a new label size of 2/3" x 1 3/4" which fits 60 labels per page.
We also simplified the user interface for creating labels and envelopes. Enjoy! Keep sending the feedback in!
Little things here and there to speed things up.
How annoying is it when you type in "UT" to the state field and it changes to "It" !? Fixed it.
When you rotate the phone the layout automatically adjusts.
When you click on a field to type in a name the screen doesn't zoom in unexpectedly anymore.
And many more little fixes for mobile devices :)
So there I was... Searching for contact after contact.
This was causing me to use my mouse to keep clicking on the search box to type in a new name.
That got old. Really fast.
From now on, anytime you are viewing your contacts you can just start typing and hit enter to perform a search. Once the results are shown you can then press TAB to go to the first result and press ENTER or RETURN to view/edit the address.
Note that this is making use of an HTML5 attribute so if you are using an old web browser... You are missing out :)
We wanted to take note of who got us which gifts so we could make sure to thank them later. What better place to track that than right here? That's what we're using the new "Notes" field for, you can use it how you want!
So far they've been rare but they come up every once in a while.
Under "Website Settings" you'll find two new checkboxes. You can check them to ask visitors to leave their phone number or email address. You can also require that they leave their phone number or email address. These fields will also be on the CSV file when you download your addresses.
2.625" x 1" labels are now an option in Envelopes and Labels. Other common label sizes coming soon and to be made available upon request.
Made a few enhancements today. The most important one was to make the "Check for Duplicates" functionality more reliable.
If someone added their name to your address list as "Travis and Jackie Millward", the tidy up function would convert it to "Travis And Jackie Millward".
This is not desirable!
The "and" is now safe and won't be capitalized.
Before you could only download your entire list. Now you can select which ones you want.
Addresses that have been exported or downloaded are automatically marked as "Sent". You can tell because they'll have a green checkbox next to their name. Select a few addresses and choose "Mark as 'Sent'" or "Mark as 'Not Sent'" from the "Address Tools" menu. We hope this makes it easier to understand which addresses have been used and which have not been used.
We added this after watching my mom try to figure out which addresses she had already printed and which she hadn't. Thanks, Mom :)
Sort addresses by "New -> Old", "A -> Z", "Not Sent -> Sent". Have an idea for another sorting option? Send it our way!
Click "New Address", type in the info, hit "Enter". Boom! It's saved and the form is ready for you to start typing a new one in. We made this after we sat down and started manually adding a bunch of names one Sunday. Let us know what you think!
Tap "Select" then select the addresses you don't need. Now click the red garbage icon to delete those addresses.
When separate addresses have the exact same name they are considered to be duplicates. This is found in the "Address Tools" menu above the list of addresses.
You will be emailed every time a visitor adds an address to your list once this date (found in "Website Settings") has passed. The idea is we want you to know that people are still adding names to your list even though you may have already sent your invites out.
New addresses will be automatically cleaned up unless you uncheck this box found in the "Website Settings".
You and visitors can now enter up to 10 characters in the Postal Code field instead of 5.
